Swaziland Household Livelihood and Activity Survey

February 23, 2016

This report presents results of the 2013 Household Livelihood and Activity Survey carried out by the Central Statistical Office (CSO) in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The UNDP, as a strategic partner in development, globally and in Swaziland, recognizes the importance of Private Sector Development and the role the Youth can play to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development.  The Government of Swaziland and UNDP also appreciates that relevant policies promoting inclusivity can only be effective with the availability of timely and accurate data geared towards understanding the dynamics of development influencing the target groups.  The ultimate objective of this survey has a goal to garner information that will stimulate policy impacting the poor specifically, women and the youth in the targeted regions to become economically and socially empowered. It is anticipated that the results of this survey will aid the Government and its partners including the UNDP to develop and implement programs on employment and economic improvement and capacity building which will benefit the poor especially the youth and women.

UNDP private sector development initiative needs to have baseline information so that its progress can be tracked. For this to happen, UNDP Swaziland collaborated with the in designing and undertaking the Swaziland Household Activity Survey 2013.
