Call for Grants Applications

UNDP is calling on Civil Society Organizations, including local non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, and non-governmental research institutions, to apply for funding under the GEF Small Grants Programme for the implementation of community-based projects. 

Priority will be given to projects that:

  1. Focus on improving the sustainability of protected area systems and mainstreaming biodiversity conservation and sustainable use into production landscapes.
  2. Aim at reducing or avoiding greenhouse gas emissions at the community-level (including low-carbon energy technologies ensure that communities have access to renewable energy, while improving energy efficiency, to meet the lighting, heating, and cooking needs of rural households).
  3. Reverse and prevent desertification and land degradation, and to mitigate the effects of drought in affected areas (including projects aim to improve agricultural management to maintain the cover and functionality of agro-ecosystems, and forest ecosystems.
  4. Focus on the sound management of chemicals and waste, including POPs and mercury, in ways that lead to the minimization of significant adverse effects on human health and the global environment.

Only registered NGOs, community-based organizations and non-governmental research institutions in Eswatini are eligible to apply for the grants of between $30 000 and $50 000.
